THE Laoag City government, through the city traffic division, is set to strictly implement the anti-noise pollution regulation for vehicles traveling around the city. SPO4 Danilo Andres, city traffic division chief, said he has already instructed all traffic police officers and aides to monitor and apprehend vehicles whose noise are above the tolerance level. For the months of April and May, traffic division records show that there were at least 266 vehicles apprehended. With this big number of apprehensions, Andres said he is hopeful that motor vehicle owners would now see to it that their cars would no longer create loud noises. Penalties for violation of the said regulation are P300, P800 and P1,000 for the first, second and third offenses, respectively. Violators are also ordered to serve from 8 to 24 hours of community service. In a related development, Andres also announced that the Department of Public Safety (DPS) paramedic team has acquired new medical kits. The said kits, according to Andres, would be a great help in their emergency response operations. The purchase has been proposed to improve the services of the paramedic teams as they respond to emergency cases around the city. Dominic B. dela Cruz
