AFTER a series of memoranda issued for out-of-post employees in the past months, city administrator Gloria F. Peralta issued another warning to all City Hall employees, including department heads, about playing computer games during office hours. The warning came during the last regular staff meeting presided over by Peralta after she received reports that some employees were playing computer games in their respective personal computers during office hours. The series of announcements and warnings are announced during regular flag-raising ceremonies every Monday. However, according to Peralta, some employees do not seem to listen to the warnings. As a result of this, she enjoined the help and cooperation of all the department heads to strictly monitor their respective employees not play games in their computers. Should there still be employees who would defy this order, Peralta said department heads would be included in the memorandum in case it would be discovered that the employee concerned has played PC games even with the presence of the department head. This order, Peralta explained, is to prevent stealing time considering the fact that government employees are being paid by public money. The Ilocos Times learned that the City Mayor’s Office earlier issued a series of memoranda on out-of-post since some employees usually go out of their respective offices for personal reasons, especially if the mayor is out of town or on official business.
