Solsona, Ilocos Norte – Mayor Joseph de Lara honored a couple in Maui, Hawaii after donating a valuable amount to one secondary school in town. De Lara personally handed the $1,000 (about P 50,000) to the school officials of Solsona National High School-Bagbag Campus through the supervision of its principal Mrs. Vicky Corla during a General Parents Teachers and Community Association meeting held at the school. Mr. Roger Santos and his wife, Tina, who are natives of Solsona and now successful businessmen in Maui, donated the amount for the repair of the PTCA classroom building which was partly damaged by a fire incident that happened sometime in April due to an electrical short circuit. According to Corla, Mrs. Santos belongs to Batch ’71 of the school. She is a native of Barangay Capurictan. Aside from de Lara who thanked the Santoses, Mr. Venadine Colobong, the President of the PTCA also expressed his utmost appreciation to the couple by sharing their “blessings” to the school. Corla said that they already sent a Certificate of Recognition and a Letter of Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Santos for their generosity. Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte Rep. Imee Marcos (2nd district, Ilocos Norte) officially opened the new classroom buildings which were totally tattered by fire. The Solsona National High School-Bagbag Campus is just one of the three secondary schools in Solsona that made it to the top ten of the National Secondary Achievement Test in Ilocos, in which the mayor and the principal were proud informing the public.
