Suspect in Navy man’s slay killed

LAOAG CITY – The suspect in a stabbing incident was killed after a short chase by the members of Philippine National Police in Barangay Cavit this city.

Jay-Ar Guillermo, 20, resident of Barangay Darayray of said city, was tagged in the killing of Teofilo Pascua, a member of the Philippine Navy.

Police revealed that Pascua and his 14-year-old daughter were walking towards their home in Barangay 17 of the said city when without apparent reason four bystanders, which included Guillermo, uttered challenging words that ensued into an altercation later resulting in the stabbing incident.

Pascua died due to three stab wounds in his right breast, right arm and at his back. His daughter disclosed that the assailant wore a camouflage pants and bull cap.

Two days after the incident, police received information on the possible whereabouts of Guillermo. Members of PNP Laoag immediately responded in Barangay Cavit where the suspect allegedly hiding. But while police were approaching the area, Guillermo ran westward and jumped over the fence of Araniw Elementary School. Police searched the place and were able to corner the suspect inside the nursery stock room.

However, the suspect allegedly attacked P/Insp. Samson Amistad and tried to wrestle away his issued firearm. P02 Dennis Ruam fired a warning shot but Guillermo ignored it prompting him to shoot the suspect at the back causing his death.

The daughter of the victim positively identified the slain suspect as the man who stabbed his father.

P/Insp. Amistad was medically treated due to injuries he sustained on different parts of his body while P02 Ruam was subjected to paraffin examination at the PNP crime laboratory.

Records showed that Guillermo had a standing warrant of arrest for carnapping and theft


Stabbing incident in LC: 1 killed

LAOAG CITY – A 47-year-old construction worker was stabbed to death by his neighbor while having a drinking spree in Barangay 47-Bengcag this city.

The victim, Artemio Sadian was rushed at Laoag City General Hospital and later transferred at Governor Roque Ablan Senior Memorial Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival by a physician.

The suspect identified as Diego Domingo, 35, resident of same barangay surrendered near a Police Assistance Center after the incident.

Investigation showed that the suspect with Nestor Raule and Rey Agngarayngay were having a drinking spree in front of Agngarayngay’s house when the victim passed by and handling some meat and asked him to share something with them. Sadian gave them something and went home. However, he returned and joined the group.

At the height of the session, the suspect allegedly uttered the following in Iloco dialect, “nasakit samet nakemmo a nangted ti pulutan” (you might have ill feelings of giving pieces of meat). This triggered the altercation.

The victim allegedly pulled a knife from his waist and attacked the suspect. But Domingo managed to grab the knife and stab the victim on the body.

A charge of homicide has been filed by the police against the suspect.


Another brgy official in San Nicolas killed

SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte—A bloodied body of a man was found dumped beside the irrigation in Barangay 16 this town.

Investigators identified the victim as Baldwin Casimiro, 50, tricycle driver, and barangay kagawad of Barangay 17 in said town.

C/Insp. Jericho Baldeo, chief of Philippine National Police (PNP) San Nicolas, said the death of the victim was caused by a lone bullet of unknown caliber in his right breast. Police were able to recover four live ammunitions of caliber .38 at the right pocket of the victim’s pants. Re

covered also at the crime scene were a holster for short firearm and eye glass box containing six live ammunitions of caliber .38.

The tricycle of Casimiro was also found dumped at the irrigation about a hundred meters away from his body.

Probers are looking for possible love triangle, illegal drug trade and revenge as motive in the killing.

Baldeo revealed that the victim was deported from Hawaii because of alleged involvement in illegal drugs. Earlier, the victim was one of the suspects in a shooting incident in Badoc town wherein a resident of was San Nicolas killed and two others were injured.

Meanwhile, Torribio Gaspar, brother-in-law of Casimiro disclosed that a month ago, the victim and his family left their home and lived with them in Barangay 19 due to death threats he received. But he failed to reveal the source and possible motive.

Casimiro was the second barangay official to be slain in their area following the death of Chairman Virgilio Tumamao who was shot by still unknown assailant last year.


Ex-convict, 2 others arrested for illegal

SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte—An intensified drive by Philippine National Police (PNP) against drug pushers resulted in the arrest of three men, including an ex-convict in this town over the weekend.

The suspects were identified as Cherry Sacramento, Emman Rondal and Romeo Ramos.

Elements of San Nicolas PNP arrested Ramos allegedly while in the act of dealing shabu.

Meanwhile, Sacramento and Rondal were apprehended by the operatives of Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Team (PAIDSOT).

P/Insp. Teddy Rosqueta, chief of PAIDSOT, said the operation conducted in front of the house of Sacramento led to the seizure of one plastic sachet of shabu. Marked money amounting to P500 was recovered in the possession of Sacramento.

Rosqueta revealed the modus operandi of the two suspects. He said the alleged drug transaction is being conducted while having a drinking spree.

Reports said that Sacramento had just been released from jail after serving his sentence from his earlier case of drug pushing.

Sacramento will be sent back to jail after he was arrested anew.


2 die in drowning incident

PINILI, Ilocos Norte—The lifeless bodies of two kids were found floating on the water impounding dam within the vicinity of Barangay Puzol this town.

The victims identified as Jayselle Consulta, 9, and his sister Jayamae, 7, both resident in the said area.

The victims and another kid were last seen playing near the water impounding project.

Marichu Consulta, said it has been her practice to left her two kids to their maid identified as Mae Anne Valencia when she report to work in a Day Care in their barangay where she teaches.

Probers are still looking for possible foul play or any lapses that may have happened on the part of Valencia.

The father of the two kids is expected to come home from South Korea where he is working.


Man stabbed to death

PAOAY, Ilocos Norte—A 48-year-old man was stabbed to death after his cousin attacked him in front of his house in Barangay San Roque this town.

The victim, Antonio Cabulisan, died immediately due to seventeen stab wounds in the body.

The suspect, Franklin Cabulisan, 34, surrendered to Paoay PNP after the incident and voluntarily admitted the grisly killing.

Prior to the stabbing, the two has a misunderstanding due to the right ownership on a parcel of land.

A charge of murder had been filed by the police against the suspect.
